A different way of working

Some people are drawn to the possibility of reflection and connection with others; others feel unsure about speaking in a group. Both are understandable reasons to ask questions before deciding. A group enquiry starts with finding out what is available and whether the format is suitable for your needs. It is not an automatic enrolment.

Experience with people and groups

Liz Gaffney MIACP holds a Certificate in Group Therapy, alongside her counselling and psychotherapy qualifications. She brings two decades of experience supporting individuals, couples and groups, together with work in community settings, adult education, student support and people management. Her approach is integrative, trauma-informed and compassionate.

Questions to ask before joining

Ask about the group’s focus, who it is intended for, how participation is arranged and what commitment is expected. You can also ask how introductions are handled, what happens if you feel uncomfortable and whether individual sessions would be a better starting point. The aim of an enquiry is to give you enough information to make a considered choice.

Privacy and boundaries

Before joining any group, it is important to understand its confidentiality agreement and the limits of confidentiality. Ask how members are expected to respect each other’s privacy, what information is shared and how concerns are addressed. A group setting involves other participants, so it should not be described as an unconditional guarantee that everything shared will remain private.

Current groups, location and fees

Please contact Liz for current group availability, dates, size, venue or online format, and fees. No fixed group timetable or open places are advertised here. Liz’s practice base is in Harold’s Cross, Dublin; the arrangements for a particular group will be confirmed directly. You can enquire without committing to attend and without sharing sensitive experiences through the form.

Your questions

Is a group currently open for booking?

Contact Liz to ask about current or planned groups. Sending an enquiry does not reserve a place or confirm that a group is running.

Can a group meet online?

Ask about the format of the particular group you are interested in. Do not assume every group is offered both online and in person.

Is this the same as group supervision?

No. Group therapy is for therapeutic work; group clinical supervision supports practitioners in their professional work. Liz also offers supervision, described on its own page.
